To provide a place for Delilah to stay while she explores the idea of moving to Colorado. To make sure Delilah knows that Gregor is dangerous.

After hearing that Delilah was given a family task to perform by Gregor, Robert is concerned about her safety. He's also terrified of Gregor and wants nothing to do with him.

Robert is Gregor’s nephew. Robert’s father (Gregor’s brother) made sure to keep him away from Gregor while he was growing up. His father always used to tell him stories about the bad part the family and, as a result, Robert stayed far away from them.

Robert loves Colorado and is excited to hear that Delilah is thinking about moving to the state. He offers her a place to stay indefinitely to give her time to feel it out. She comes to Colorado but calls him to tell him that Gregor has given her something to do with a family heirloom before driving to Pueblo. Robert tells her the heirloom story and warns her that anything involving Gregor is dangerous and that she should be extremely careful.
Gregor calls Robert to check up on Delilah and make sure she's in Denver instead of Pueblo. While they are on the phone, Gregor brags about his connections in Europe and how he's going to call in a favor to "put a kid in his place" that is "poking his nose in family business" and "talking to that Rosiello woman". Robert calls Delilah to tell her about the phone call and again warns her to keep her head down and not do anything to anger Gregor.
Later, in the middle of the night, Gregor calls Robert and tells him that he is going to Denver to check on how Delilah is handling "family business" and wants to know where she's staying. Robert gives him the name of the hotel in Westminster and starts praying that Gregor won't decide to pay him a visit. He tries to call Delilah to make sure she knows that Gregor is on his way to Denver, but he's unable to get in touch with her.
