Newsletter or mailing list?

Depending on who you talk to or where you research, the terms mean something very different. For example, a newsletter seems to be a regular, expected email. A mailing list, though, maybe more sporadic. What do I want? I think a newsletter, probably monthly. But, I want to provide real value to readers, so I'm going to put some thought into how I might accomplish that.

What's next?

I'll keep on plugging away at my second draft. It's a lot of work, so it's just a matter of taking it day by day and making steady progress, much in the same way as I wrote the first draft.

What's new since last week?

  • Ran the second draft revision checklist "through the wringer," and it's working out quite well.
  • In addition to working on my second draft of the novel, I've decided to create a few audio versions of some short stories for various platforms. I have an excellent audiobook rendition of my short story Inching Along After the Apocalypse underway, and it will be exclusive to people who join my mailing list.
  • Speaking of the mailing list, I made a lot of progress in wiring things up for it. I still have a good amount of work to do, but it's coming along nicely. I'm explicitly trying to avoid anything that's even remotely spammy—I hate those types of things, and I refuse to participate in the seemingly never-ending chain of clickbait and spam out there.
