Chapter 3
A surprise on my door
Zarina Rosiello
to Amon Nagi
Amon,
Something weird happened to me today, and I think it might relate to your research. I found an envelope on my door this morning. It contained an odd note, a Slovenian coin (a bull/taurus coin), and a news clipping from 1910 of a sighting of a strange creature in Australia.
Best,
Zarina

How interesting! And a little unsettling. Do you know what it could mean?

The note in the envelope was a coded message that revealed the name "Ksenija Horvat." Does this name mean anything to you? I have a strong feeling that she is somehow related to my ancestor Giovanni and the mysterious woman from his journal.
I now have two Slovenian coins (a bull/taurus coin and an equus/horse coin), a news clipping from 1910 of a strange creature, and the name "Ksenija Horvat" which is unknown to me. Any ideas what those could mean?
Best,
Zarina

I am at home and it is getting late here in Zurich, but I have nothing to do so I will see what I can find with this information.

How much coffee can one mule take?
Amon Nagi
to Zarina Rosiello
Zarina,
After more coffee than a mule can carry, I have found some information on our mystery woman, Ksenija Horvat! Let us hope your information is correct, but so far it looks promising! I have attached a few excerpts that mention her by name or look connected to her. I wonder what else I can dig up on Horvats and Rosiellos.
We shall see.
I have just brewed a fresh pot of java.
Let us see how far it can take me.

Thanks for the update! This is intriguing. It's also interesting that Ksenija seems to have had twins as well. I wonder what happened to them.
Coffee can pretty much anywhere, in my experience.

Zarina

I am curious about the twins as well. I must say, this is more intriguing than the research paper I am supposed to be working on right now.
PS: I think you a word. 😄

That's because I hadn't had my coffee yet. I'd better pack some on my mule before I head to work.

Not enough sleep. Maybe you can help?
Amon Nagi
to Zarina Rosiello
Zarina,
So I was able to locate a good amount of information on both your family and the Horvats but I am unable to piece together anything meaningful. I am sending you a selection of the more interesting articles from newspapers that I found. I feel like there is something to these, some pattern, but I just cannot figure it out. Please take a look at these for me. Do you see anything significant?

Amon,
After looking at these articles for a while, I think I've found a few connections!
- I think Vera Horvat's death might be related to Meghan Rosiello's disappearance. Vera died on June 12, 1976, in Connecticut—the same day that Meghan Rosiello disappeared in Connecticut. It may just be a coincidence, but I think it merits further investigation. Does anyone know Vera Horvat's cause of death? (the obituary didn't say)
- The dates of the two animal attacks (March 21, 1962, and July 18, 1989) and the disappearance of Meghan Rosiello/death of Vera Horvat (June 12, 1976) are all full moons. Wild animal attacks on full moons involving the same two families—seem like more than a coincidence.
- I also noticed that Meghan Rosiello was 25 at the time of her disappearance—which is the same age Giovanni Rosiello was when he got mysteriously ill (and then remarkably strong.)
I'm growing concerned, as my 25th birthday was on February 12th.
Best,
Zarina

Zarina,
I see it now, you are a genius! Everything you have noted makes perfect sense to me. Zarina, I am going to ask you a very serious question, and please do not hold back your truthful answer from me, are you implying this has something to do with werewolves?

Amon,
I know it sounds a little crazy, but yes, I am implying that we're dealing with werewolves here. There are just too many coincidences to completely rule it out.
